Beth has lived in Covington for nearly 30 years. She and Jeff have rehabbed two historic homes and raised two children there. Even though Beth made Covington her home, each member of the fiscal court represents ALL of Kenton County. During her service on the fiscal court, the county faced a recession, a global pandemic, an opioid epidemic and even a devastating tornado! These challenges caused Beth to vote to support the creation of nationally acclaimed addiction recovery program at the Kenton County Detention Center, distribute COVID funds effectively by soliciting applicants and sharing those funds to help community organizations who were most impacted, and endorsed the hiring and training of resource officers in our local schools and law enforcement navigators to assist our public safety officers.
Even with her busy schedule, Beth remains active serving in many organizations in Northern Kentucky. She continues to serve on several boards and has been active in her Covington Neighborhood associations where she was honored with the 2003 Community Leader Award.
As commissioner, Beth has voted to lower property taxes to 1980’s level and has passed annual budgets that have placed Kenton County financially in its best position in 50 years.
Raised on a 2000-acre farm in central Indiana, Beth has championed the conservation of rural farmland along with thoughtful planning to attract the best jobs to Kenton County. She has also supported the repurposing of 200 acres in the center of Kenton County into a new county recreation facility and building a permanent Farmers Market Pavillion to the Historic Courthouse Campus. She also assisted with the founding of the South Kenton County Citizens’ Group giving voice to unincorporated residents and meeting their service needs through improving zoning and infrastructure such as roads, water and broadband.
Healthy, thriving businesses are dear to Beth as her family still operates their 2,000-acre farm and a 40-year-old orchard business where she worked throughout her life. After graduating from Milligan College in 1989, she married Jeff and established a career in not-for-profit management in Indianapolis. Jeff went to work for The Kroger Co. and relocated the couple to Greater Cincinnati. Beth became the Executive Director of the Covington Business Council where she brought business experience and advocated business priorities in the city. As Commissioner, Beth has voted to support the distribution of funds secured for site development and redevelopment in multiple cities throughout the county.
